Music and Rituals
Ever since I was little I have wanted to go to Italy! I am in love with the food that has originated from Italy, so I think it would be really cool to go there and experience the foods that I love, such as, pizza and pasta. So I decided to do this blog on the type of music you would hear at Italian weddings and ceremonies!
The Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni is an opera from a play. The tune suggests both the peace of country living and the intense individual feelings of the principles. Cavalleria Rusticana opened on May 17, 1890 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. The audience included the most authoritative music critics and Queen Margherita. Cavalleria Rusticana was Pietro Mascagni's first opera to be completed and performed. It is his best known opera. There has been over 100 full-length recordings of Cavalleria Rusticana published since it was first recorded in 1909. Other than Italian, there has also been recordings in the languages: English, French, German, and Hungarian. Apart from the recordings, there has also been several cinematic versions of Cavalleria Rusticana. The most known ones are, the 1916 silent film accompanied by Mascagni, the 1953 film directed by Carmine Gallone, the 1968 film directed by Ake Falck, and the 1982 film directed by Franco Zeffirelli.
One of the most important things at a wedding is the music! Music elevates the mood and the atmosphere, so having the right choice of music is very important! At Italian weddings that songs usually played are Vivo per Lei by Andrea Bocelli and The Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni.
Andrea Bocelli is an italian singer from Lajatico, Italy. He was born visually impaired and became completely blind at the age of 12 following a football accident. Since 1994, he has recorded 15 solo studio albums and 9 complete operas. He has sold over 75 million records worldwide. Vivo per Lei means "I live for Her" in Italian. It is one of his most famous songs. It was originally performed as a duet with Giorgia Todrani, though later he went on to record it with other well-known female artists. The original version was written by a group called O.G.O in which the song was referred to a woman, but was rewritten by Gatto Panceri writing the song referring to music.

Wow I am stunned, the second video you embedded the way the orchestra is so in tune left me in awe it's a very serotonin boosting piece for the ears. I really enjoyed learning about your interest in wedding and specifically Italian wedding music.
